22nd February: February has been a busier month than anticipated. A session on the 9th, an Ice Swimming event on the 15th and 16th, and a gig tomorrow. Our session went exceptionally well. Our UK visitor from Akbuk in Turkey hasn’t regretted his visit. There was a huge crowd and a terrific atmosphere. We also had people dancing at the Ice Swimming, so we were looking forward to the gig.
25th February. The gig was flat. It was very strange to see the combination of videos being taken with an air of indifference in the rest of the audience. I divided the gig into thirds, so our first break was around 4:45pm. A lot of diners were getting ready to leave at that point to go to the carnival. From that point on, the atmosphere never picked up. Not even Manchester City v Liverpool brought in the punters. Adding to my stress was the conviction that we are seriously under-rehearsed. It is particularly apparent in the songs.
Our next gig will be on St. Patrick’s Day. For the first time in the Dubliner, I believe, we will be playing in the evening. Because both guitarists will want to play, I will revert to two halves.
