πέφτουλας – peftulas – (plural: πέφτουλες): a sexual chancer, someone who makes uninvited passes or advances on women.
One of the presenters of Greece’s most popular TV satirical shows Ράδιο Αρβύλα has been sacked following the discovery of revenge porn clips he uploaded. Αρβύλα is a military boot but it has the additional meaning of scuttlebutt or gossip. The latest is his three fellow presenters are suing him, possibly because the porno prat stated that they all knew about it. My own feeling is that there is no smoke without fire, so I expect the program to be withdrawn in the next week or two, especially following the claims of a former female employee of the program, who has claimed hitting on women was rife.
According to www.slang.gr the definition is even more unflattering than my attempt above: Αυτός που την πέφτει σε όποιο θηλυκό βρεθεί μπροστά του, που δεν αφήνει ήσυχη ούτε θηλυκιά γάτα. Συχνά, είναι παράλληλα και χταπόδι.
Basically, the above says no female, human or otherwise, is safe. Πέφτουλας probably comes from the verb phrase την πέφτω σε κάποιον, which means to make a pass at someone.
Finally, TV news presenters were initially using the English words Revenge Porn to describe the events, but they have now settled on the Greek: εκδικητικό πορνό or εκδικητική πορνογραφία.
