Irish Music in Northern Greece 03/2022

Some very sad news. A young Irish primary school teacher was murdered while jogging on the banks of the Royal Canal near Tullamore. Her name was Ashling Murphy. She was only 23 years old.

Ashling was one of us, an accomplished fiddler. Here she is when she must have been a very young teenager. You can see the finger markings on the violin’s fingerboard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLH2ijK9j1o

She’s a little older in this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTIMy5RNpvE

And in this last clip from 2019, she is a young adult: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1BaXCwpuA0

I know this will probably never be read in Ireland let alone read by members of her family, but I simply want it to be noted that people in Greece were thinking about Ashling.

Here in Greece we had another practice yesterday and things are shaping up nicely. I am editing our current play booklet. Somehow a few months ago I managed to convert abc notation to Word, Never again. My advice to anyone is 1) create/edit your tune in abc, 2) print (here = save) to pdf, 3) convert pdf to jpeg and 4) copy and paste jpeg onto Word.
