We were locked down in January but from February to July we have manged to hold very successful sessions. Last night, 4th August, was different; we did a gig. We were well received in the Σπίτι του Φύλακα in Angelohori. About 200 people turned up. The Guard House is a ruin with no electricity, so it was an unplugged repeat of last year’s performance with the welcome addition of young blood, fiddlers, whistle players, a mandolin and a guitar. Last year was a real challenge as the wind carried away the sound.

When amateurs (and I include myself) play, there can be a lot of pissing about and time-wasting between numbers, but we were quite disciplined and raced through the playlist which comprised of two sets of 10 items plus an encore. “An item” for us can be a song followed by two reels, so the sets tended to be long. I don’t know when we’ll play again, but we will tweak the list to reduce the playing time.

Our next outing is our session on 11th September.
