Irish Music in Northern Greece 06/2022

The Dubliner’s website has been updated. Our next session is being advertised so we are getting ready for Sunday 13th March. I have talked previously about Grevena’s St. Patrick’s Festival and its cancellation in 2020 and 2021. It will not receive any support this year either, but I have been asked to organise a session for Saturday, 19th March. I have drafted an email – as yet unsent – and I have organised the music. I just need people willing to travel! Accommodation and food will be provided, and petrol costs will be reimbursed.

Dedicated to the cause, two of us went to a small bar called The Dirty Glass on Thursday evening. It is well run, and the Guinness is good. The website states there is live music every Thursday. Of course, there wasn’t. But all the tracks played on a Thursday are Irish. In fairness, it was a nice selection. Our next stop is a place called Αρχέγονο (= Archetype). It is a craft beer pub with a neat little stage area. As the English would say unkindly: “Only the Irish would try to organise gig venues before they’ve even assembled a band.”
