Irish music scene Episode 5

The music is at a standstill. Covid 19 has seen to that. The Grevena St. Patrick’s Festival was cancelled – or postponed till May – and our St. Patrick’s mini event in Riley’s Bar in Peraia is also cancelled as all bars have been closed. I have received my personal belongings from Saudi Arabia among which were my electric fiddle and my Moon mandolin. I have lent the fiddle to a friend who wants to practise without disturbing the neighbours. I might take up mandolin lessons. Being a fiddler, my left hand is reasonably good for melody, but I need help with chords and strumming. In case you’re interested, a Moon mandolin is made by Jimmy Moon in Glasgow. www.moonguitars.co.uk for further information.  Still impossible to find a Coalition of the Willing Musicians.
